This workshop will provide an overview of Special Immigrant Juvenile status (SIJS), including a discussion of how SIJS can be obtained, what types of proceedings are youth able to obtain the necessary state court findings, the process of applying for SIJS with USCIS, and what it means for parents and other family members if a child is found eligible for SIJS.  The presenter will pay particular attention to child protection and juvenile justice proceedings, delineating how children can obtain state court findings in these proceedings and the possible challenges that might occur.
