This session will be a facilitated discussion based on current research projects exploring public defender institutional design. It will detail research conclusions about how public defenders offices should be set up or managed in order to fully support the success of their attorneys in doing the important work of representing indigent defendants. After a brief description of relevant research projects and scholarly interventions, participants will separate into facilitated breakout groups to examine their own office structure and devise potential solutions to identified problems.
