Andrea Sáenz is Attorney-in-Charge of the New York Immigrant Family Unity Project (NYIFUP) at Brooklyn Defender Services. NYIFUP is New York's first-in-the-nation immigration public defender program representing detained immigrants facing removal. Prior to joining BDS, Andrea was a Clinical Teaching Fellow in the Immigration Justice Clinic at the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law. She has worked in federal and immigration courts and as a high school ESL teacher, and trains widely on criminal immigration, detention, and appellate issues. Andrea graduated from Harvard Law School cum laude and received her B.A. in English from the University of California, Los Angeles.
